The emergence of new wide receivers. Last season, everything was all about Marcus Dupree. This year James Wilkerson has really had some big games, perhaps making teams pay for trying to double up on Greg Smith. But it doesn't end with Wilkerson, James Shaw has really stepped up his game as well. Freshman Alan Bonner has scored touchdowns in 2 of 3 games he has played. Finally, Gamecock insiders say LaRay Williams, who broke out against A&M is the real deal. One has to remember the Gamecocks have been this successful without John Houston Whiddon, who was hurt against Tech and Jeff Cameron who redshirted to concentrate on academics.
Alan Bonner - potential superstar. Alan has used his speed to score 3 touchdowns so far this season; one coming on a 57 yard reception, and another coming on a 61 yard punt return. Alan is just a freshman and a major contributor to this team.
Ryan Perrilloux. The biggest improvement we see in RP's game this year is he is not attempting to do too much. Also, he consistently spreads the ball out among the wide receivers making things tougher on opposing defenses.
Backup quarterback. Marques Ivory has looked really solid in relieving Perrilloux. JSU should be fine next year with Ivory and Robinson.
Running game. Crowe expressed mild disappointment with the running game thus far. However, Calvin Middleton and Jamal Young have both had some good outings. Lets not forget that co-#1 running back, Drec Lindley has been out with a broken hand the first few weeks of the season.
The entire defensive unit could be one of the best in the FCS. Talented and deep at many positions. One wondered how the DL coaching change would affect the defensive line. We can quit worrying. Having a deep defensive line is allowing Jamison Wadley time to properly heal an injured shoulder.
Santez Mays is continuously pressuring and hurrying the opponent’s QB. He is definitely stepping up to have a big senior year.
Alexander Henderson continues to be a tackling machine.
Brandt Thomas is having a great senior season. He deserves a look from some NFL teams.
Torrey Davis is showing why he was the #2 rated Defensive Tackle in the Country his senior year in high school.
Monte Lewis is showing glimpses of why Thomas said he could be the best to play the position at JSU.
Young Eric Russell is starting to show why Gamecock coaches have always raved about his athleticism. Crowe singled out his play on special teams after the A&M game.
It hasn’t hurt the Gamecocks yet, but the ability to make a FG will have to improve when we are in a tight game. 1 out of 3 in last weekend’s game. However,Patrick Tatum's deep kicks have certainly helped JSU's field position. He is booming some punts as well.

Our DBs need to step it up a few notches also.
