Coty Blanchard Commits to Jax State

Coty Blanchard, a 3 Star Recruit, has committed to play football at Jacksonville State according to the Anniston Star. Blanchard, who formerly committed to play baseball for Mississippi State, is a quarterback from Cherokee County. He led his team to a State Championship and led Alabama in the Alabama - Mississippi All Star Game. Blanchard's dad, Fran, played for JSU in the 80s' and organized a big reunion of 80s' players this fall. Here is what various outlets had to say about Blanchard:

2009 Stats: Completed 200 of 288 pass attempts for 2,924 yards and 35 touchdowns with three interceptions through 15 games and a state championship. The senior rushed for 1,141 yards on 153 carries scoring 18 touchdowns.

2009 Awards: Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Game, Star of Alabama Week Three vs. Hokes Bluff. Stars of Alabama Week 10 vs. Scottsboro.

2008: Blanchard continued his impressive career passing for 2,325 yards and 26 touchdowns and rushing for 907 yards and 13 more touchdowns during his junior season.

He was named Gadsden Times All-Area First Team QB, ASWA 4A Honorable Mention QB.

2007: Blanchard completed 175 of 240 pass attempts for a better than 70% completion ratio and had 20 touchdowns as as sophomore.

Coach Curry says of Blanchard "Exceptional player with a blue chip arm."
