Congratulations to Defensive Lineman Brandt Thomas, Linebacker Alex Henderson, Safety Carnell Clark and Center Reggie Wade on their Pre-Season All OVC selections. Hopefully, these seniors will make it a season to remember.
Brandt Thomas is a local player that goes hard on every play. I've had the pleasure of sitting by his parents and Grandmother at games. They have a lot to be proud of in this Defensive Lineman. Brandt actually ran the ball once in the Spring game, but I am pretty sure his focus will be on stopping the run this year.
Alex Henderson is a Mobile native that burst on the scene for the Gamecocks last year. He led the team in tackles even though he did not start every game. Late in the season Henderson had back to back games w/ 20+ tackles.
Many players on the defense will tell you that Clark is not only the fastest player on the team, but also the hardest hitter. If Clark continues his fine play, All American honors are a possibility.
Center, Reggie Wade, is a true team leader for the Gamecocks. The Tuscumbia native is a JUCO transfer that immediately made his mark. If you get a chance go to the archives and read our Q&A with Reggie, he is a class act.
