Summer Football Tidbits

Reports out of Jacksonville State are that team members are working extremely hard in voluntary condtioning. Many of the Gamecocks highly touted recruiting class are already on campus including mammoth linemen Colt Kennedy and Rickey Clemons, wide receivers Rayce Whiddon and Alan Bonner, athlete Robert Gray, defensive end Kevin Dix, fullback Jahron Brown and defensive ends David Maness and Denzell Cheeks.

While it is too early to say who the impact freshmen will be, look out for Bonner a 3 Star wide receiver from Powder Springs, Georgia. He appears to be the real deal. Richard Freelon may be one of the next great Gamecock running backs. He's bigger and faster than originally reported.

Big news- Jahron Brown- the #6 rated fullback recruit in America, appears to be healthy and is a player. He has some stiff competition at fullback, however, with Freeney and Middleton both returning. Greg Smith, the Georgia Tech wide receiver transfer, will make an immediate impact.

Eric Russell, a phenomenal athlete, has moved from TE to linebacker. Kevin Dix is a beast.

Bad news, it appears that recruit, T. J. Hoyt may be headed to junior college. A great player that will hopefully return to JSU.

Lets get fired up. We have 11 opportunities to show the nation what JSU football is all about and finish with the highest ranking in school history. Regardless of what may be put in someone's media guide, the real OVC champ will be decided on the field.
