OVC Softball

Here's a recent blog from ovcinsider.blogspot.com, with an interesting view of the conference.

The OVC is a Softball Conference

People may think that the Ohio Valley Conference is a basketball conference maybe even a football conference but it’s really a softball conference.

Softball has been the Ohio Valley Conference’s most successful sport in recent years. Over the last three years an OVC team has won at least two games in the NCAA Tournament. Last season was the first time that the conference had two teams in the tourney with UT Martin earning the league’s automatic bid and Jacksonville State getting at-large selection.

The Gamecocks also became the first OVC team to advance to the Super Regional. In addition to winning games in the NCAA tournament, Jacksonville State received votes in two preseason polls and senior Niki Prior has been named to Amateur Softball Association's Top 50 Watch List for the 2010 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Be on the look out for another exciting year of OVC softball as the season gets started today.
