A Message from Coach Crowe

This was an interesting quote from Coach Crowe's OVC press conference yesterday:

We have very strong goals for ourselves. We are trying to step on to the national stage. OUr whole conference is. The fact that we didn't get to the playoff last year I thought not because it was but anytime that you don't take a team out of our league that's 8-3 compared to a fourth place team [Maine]. . . We were very, very affected by that moment. We are still affected by that moment. . . . Even though we are not playing for a conference championship, we are still trying to be a factor in the conference championship, but as long as they rank us in the Top 25 and, here's a message, we are doing everything we can to get every bit of attention in that vote. Everything we can. Because that's all we've got. That's where we are.

  1. Does that mean he is gonna run the scores up this season?

  2. I think you could read it as JSU will try to win convincingly, but I've never seen us run it up. Look at the UTC and A&M games from last year, JSU substituted heavily in both of those games.

  3. Well as far down in the polls as we are right now (#21 & #24)if he is wanting us to finished in the top 5, I think he is gonna need to post some pretty high numbers and have a few shut outs. :/

  4. Its kind of amazing that you would drop in the polls given the performances we have had against preseason Top 25 FBS teams. I just hope JSU wins all of their games. While we want to get some big wins, we need to think about letting some young guns like Robinson, Bonner and Ivory get plenty of PT getting ready for next yr.

  5. I was about to say I'd like to see some of the younger guys play too, then I realize just how many freshmen and sophomores are already playing. Except for very few positions, this is a very young team.

  6. We need to win the rest of our games so next year we will start near 10.
