While the national media seems to focus on the negative, Ryan Perrilloux is making his case for the Payton Award. He leads the FCS and FBS in passing efficiency. He has 11 touchdowns in 3 games played. If you project his FCS stats over the course of the season, he will finish the year with 45 touchdowns.
Perrilloux's performance has been outstanding. However, a lot of credit goes to a stout defense that continuously gets the offense back on the field. Also, JSU's receiving corps makes Ryan better and vice verca. This is a talented group. Wilkerson is having his best year ever. Allen Bonner appears to be a future superstar in the making. Greg Smith is a talent, but the Gamecocks have not had to rely on him as much as some thought they might. Finally, the running backs, particularly Jamal Young catch the ball well out of the backfield.
